Another Guilty Pleasure – American Idol
For some reason, since I’ve been writing this blog (and on the Scribbling Divas) I seem to be making all sorts of confessions! I used to be a literary snob, I’m in love with Gregory Peck, I am a panster. What next?
Well, I’m addicted to American Idol. Yes, more than all those other music shows, I can’t seem to help myself when the American Idol season starts. Although I cringe when the early season auditions are on because I feel bad for all those people who just don’t know they are terrible, I still watch every episode. You never know when you will catch the one who you will cheer for all season long.
I watched the show off and on for the first few years, but it wasn’t until Season 7 that I became addicted. It was the season of “the two David’s,” David Cook and David Archuleta and I was voting my little fingers off for David Archuleta, whom I still adore. On Idol nights, my children knew not to talk to me while Idol was on. My husband tiptoed around the room while I was sitting there biting my nails during elimination night. And when David Cook won, I was like the video of the six little girls who were screaming “Nooooooo!” (see video below)
But I still love to watch the show. I’ve never gotten so invested in a contest like that of Season 7, and I don’t often vote, but watching American Idol is still my guilty pleasure……what is yours?
